So…learnermother, yep – that’s pretty much what I am. Sometimes I think I’m doing ok, far more often I despair that I’ll never get it right. My lovely kids are 10, 8 and 5 and deal with my efforts at parenting with varying degrees of equanimity, as you’ll no doubt find out if you’re going to dip into my blog occasionally. And I guess you could say the same about how the husband deals with my efforts at wifehood!

In other news I’m a Welsh learner, dealing with the challenges of putting my kids through Welsh medium education; I’m planning a major building project to reconfigure our house for our family growing up, and I am co-owner of a games shop  – I imagine all of those things will feature in these pages, along with info on my latest project – setting up a local currency for Cardiff. Oh and I also work in Housing.  Yep, I am tired pretty much all the time, so please excuse any inadvertent typos or even the odd sweary moment!

So why am I doing this? Well, I enjoy writing and have been toying with the idea of blogging for years. But I’ve never really found something to write about – I always thought to have a blog, you needed to really be an expert on something. Eventually, I gave up on the idea of becoming an expert on anything, ever, and decided to just start writing. And LearnerMother is the result.
