So do we…I’m going to be reviewing some games on the blog this year from our shop, so keep an eye out if you’re looking for ideas for new ones! LearnerMother recently posted…Silent Sunday 05.01.14
Carcassone for kids if I am not mistaken. We bought the adult version for our older son and have played it every day since Christmas (several times every day in fact!). Brilliant brilliant game that I would recommend to anyone. Rosie @Eco-Gites of Lenault recently posted…Silent Sunday – Jan 5th 2014
Yes, well spotted! I love Carcassonne too – it’s one of the first board games I played – it was the beginning of the story that led to us opening our board games shop in fact! LearnerMother recently posted…Our countrykids year
Is your board games shop online? If so can you email me a link – we are looking for some Carcassonne expansions! Even if not, can you recommend any? Rosie @Eco-Gites of Lenault recently posted…Silent Sunday – Jan 5th 2014
Hello, we’re at http://rulesofplay.co.uk – it’s not set up to sell online but we do mail order through the shop…
My favourite expansions are Inns and Cathedrals (with this one you get an extra set of meeples too, expanding the game to six players.) The exp also includes a large meeple (counts as two when you use it) and of course Inns and Cathedrals, which increase the value of roads/cities but only if they are completed at the end of the game.
My next favourite is Traders and Builders – you gain certain goods when you close a city (whether or not you have won it) and these give you points at the end, if you have the most. You also have a Builder Meeple, which allows you to draw again immediately if you place a tile on a city in which he stands. And also a pig which increases the value of any fields you own at the end.
I can check if these are in stock and postage prices if you like – we charge whatever Royal Mail charge us for posting. Might not be able to get back to you straight away as I’m at the (non shop) day job…
Lots of concentration – love a good game!

Sibling harmony – a lovely scene.
If only it lasted longer than one game….
